Google’s free music, only for China

Solar-Power Breakthrough

A professor from MIT has implemented a catalyst that can produce oxygen from water. The catalyst helps to generate large amounts of hydrogen via sunlight to power the reactions. Again the hydrogen can be used to generate electricity by passing through a fuel cell.

This development is a major breakthrough in inorganic chemistry that could lead to storing energy from the sun without costly.

Apple Releases Patch for DNS Flaw

Apple released the security update 2008-005 for ‘Mac OS X’ in 31st July. It includes the patch for DNS cache poisoning attacks, discoverd by Dan Kaminsky, director of penetration testing for Seattle-based security firm IOActive. The attackers will use the flaw to “poison” the DNS records of network providers and the user of the targeted ISP will receive forged information. This patch addresses the issue by implementing source port randomization to improve resillience against cache poisoning attacks.
